“Great” Turn for Scout Brother

2014-04-21 19.09.20Last week, we learned of a brother Scout from another troop and his family that lost their home to a fire. While all of the family members and pets were safe, they lost all of their possessions, and with Camp-O-Ree just around the corner, the Scout had no equipment. In true Rattlesnake fashion, the Scouts of Troop 501 coiled together, gathered up supplies, equipment, and even some cash, and on Monday, a contingent of Rattlers presented their Brother with a backpacking pack, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, water bottle, mess kit, a nice card, and over $50 in cash at his troop meeting. What’s really amazing about this is that this is a time that is especially tough for many Scout families, as many have just crossed over from Cub Scouting, and are in the midst of getting outfitted for Boy Scouting, and securing funds for summer camp. The outpouring of generosity shown by the Scouts and families of Troop 501 is truly phenomenal. You never cease to amaze me. It’s only fitting that we acknowledge you on Saint George Day.
