Jefferson Barracks Memorial Day Good Turn

Troop 501 will be participating in the Gravois Trails Memorial Day Good Turn at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, on Sunday, May 26, 2013. This is an annual service project where we place flags on each grave in the cemetery.  We will meet at the McDonald’s in front of Walmart on Telegraph at Interstate 270/ 255 in South County, at noon. We will then drive into the cemetery, find a pace to park, move to the staging area, and then wait to process in at 1:00. There will be a presentation, speeches, etc, and then, finally, we will receive our instructions, and start placing the flags.

Remember, this is a somber event, deserving of respect, reverence, and a time to honor these men and women.

All scouts and leaders should be in full, Class A uniform. Be sure to bring a full water bottle, and raingear. There will be a lot of standing, initially. For those of you who still need hours for your Citizenship in the Community Merit Badge, this is a good way to get some!
