Storms No Match for Troop 501!

Our campout at Beaumont and hike to Mud Cave, Fort Hussman, Ravenhurst Castle, and the Eagle’s Nest Tower was fantastic! While in Mud Cave, we found three spotted salamanders (and plenty of mud)! As we returned to the surface, we enjoyed our lunch, while listening to the thunderstorms roll in. We hiked off Mud Cave Mountain, and then took refuge in a picnic shelter to wait out the storm. As the rain slowed, we headed over to the maze, where the boys had fun playing tag, and then it was off to Fort Hussman. It was a long, hard hike, straight up the mountain to Ravenhurst Castle, and after a few minutes, we started up to the Eagle’s Nest Tower, where we enjoyed the view. The trip down the mountain and back to camp didn’t seem nearly as long, and we were all ready to be back. As though it were planned, the thunderstorms rolled in after supper, and though (thanks to the wind) we all got a bit soggy, we all made it through the night, little worse for the wear! Good job, boys!
